Crazy busy does not even BEGIN to describe it.
DATE: 07 May 2007, 7:57 am / MOOD: Other
UGH! I swear, if I have to go through one more box, I'm going to scream. I'm also going to scream if I have to listen to one more second of loud, obnoxious mariachi music coming from my downstairs neighbor's apartment (either that or modify Carol's patented "Elvis Treatment" using ZZTop). The past week has been crazy busy. More like super crazy. ("I'm super, I'm crazy, I'm supercrazy!" Sorry. Bad WWE reference.) With unpacking and trying to find additional employment since CNC seems to have flaked on me, I've barely had time to breathe. Luckily, I've gotten to spend quite a bit of time with Pumpkin, so it's not so bad. Still, I wish things would calm down a bit. I also went back to Mom's for a visit this weekend, and it was weird. I was glad to see her and Larry (and of course my puppy), but I found myself counting down the time until I was back here. Maybe I really am adapting to this city life. Who knows?

Ugh. Just...ugh.

I thought my Jeep had decided to behave itself again. I was wrong. It seems that a day of normal shifting yesterday was a complete fluke. This is bad. Well, not really, as I've got the money to get it fixed, but I really needed it this weekend to move stuff down to the apartment. Damn, damn, damn. As for the moving itself, it's finally starting to seem real, which to me is both exciting...and scary. I mean, I've lived on this mountain my entire life, except for the five months I spent in Cullowhee (and even then, I was in the mountains). This is all new to me. Living in an apartment, surrounded by people (when I'm used to being able to walk around naked in my house if I felt like it, even though I never did). I know I'll be able to handle it. It's just going to take some getting used to. I also know that even though I'll be happy to be there with Pumpkin, I'm going to miss this place. I'll miss my mom, my dog, the library... And I know I'm going to be at least a tad melancholy once the new wears off a bit. I just hope Pumpkin's prepared for it. Feh. And I thought I was going to have a good day.

It was an interesting weekend to say the least.
DATE: 03 Apr 2007, 12:00 pm / MOOD: Other
Friday was interesting experience number one, that being the doctor's visit. For one, it's annoying as all get out when you show up not only on time, but fifteen minutes early for your appointment and they STILL keep you waiting for two hours. Secondly, it was also a bit odd to walk into a crowded waiting room and realize I was the only person there who had actually been born in the US. (Turns out all that doctor does is immigration stuff.) There were people from every continent but Antarctica, and that's no exaggeration. And, since they poked and prodded him six ways from Sunday (and made him get naked), he was pretty much a complete joy to be around the entire day (can you feel the sarcasm?). But, I can't blame him. Poor thing. Saturday was interesting experience number two. Walked into the laundromat in a predominantly black and Hispanic section of Winston to find Deliverance playing on the tvs. What the? But, I actually had a nice time doing laundry (imagine that) thanks to this little girl who reminded me alot of myself when I was that age. She was fearless, and just started talking to me. Kid's got moxie. Sunday was actually a nice normal day, oddly enough. Yesterday was a complete asspain. We had to return to the doctor's office to get his PPD read (negative, of course), and between shitty Greensboro traffic and a car that doesn't like me I thought we'd never get back to Winston. Not to mention the fact that I got lost at least twice. Luckily, the last time we were trying to get back to west I-40, and his best friend Samer was heading to school so he came and showed me the way. He's a sweetheart. :) (Also, if he had blue eyes, he'd be my friend Eddie Czuzuka's twin brother, no lie.) And that, my dears, is why I'm barely able to hold my head up today. I'm pooped.

random odds and ends
DATE: 13 Feb 2007, 11:46 am / MOOD: Dont know
1. I honestly think that Curves should make a rule that a bra is required attire, no exceptions. Yes, I know standard bras are uncomfortable when you're at the gym, but sports bras are relatively inexpensive and would do you a world of good, you large breasted women who insist on jumping around without anything on. You look nasty, and you're going to wind up with knee knockers that way. Do you really want to be eighty and have a fuzzy patch (that being your crotch) between your boobs? 2. Since I've been with Haytham, I've been listening to far too much hip-hop than could reasonably be considered healthy. (Never fear, folks. I'm not planning on leaving my beloved state of non-scene-ness to become a gangsta.) And I've also found that many times I prefer the radio version of a song to the real thing. For example, Akon's "I Wanna Love You" on the radio is in actuality "I Wanna Fuck You" on the album. The first one sounds much more romantic and pleasant. The second, well, it's just sleazy. 3. It's rather obvious that your burgundy Crown Vic is an unmarked police vehicle when you're driving down a concrete median where no one is supposed to be. It's also obviously an unmarked when someone under the age of 70 is driving it, and when the town has had the same car for five years. Everyone knows it's you, copper, so give up already. 4. Trying to direct traffic using a red flag stapled to a long stick in foggy weather without reflective clothing on is a really, really, REALLY dumb idea.

one tired little demon
DATE: 12 Feb 2007, 12:02 pm / MOOD: In love
Oy. So tired. It's been a long, but happy weekend. For those of you not quite in the know (good lord, I'm so tired I can barely see to type!), I have indeed fallen in love. His name is Haytham, and he's absolutely amazing. Anyway... Just spent the second weekend in a row with him, and I'm beat. He works weird hours, so I had to get used to a very odd sleep schedule over the past two nights. I have trouble sleeping in a strange place (and with rude neighbors practically two inches away thanks to poor building design) anyway, so I didn't fall asleep until 3 am both nights, and then wake up at 6 to let him back into the apartment. (He left the key with me in case I got bored while he was a work and wanted to go out.) But other than that, the whole thing was fantastic. :) Most of the details you don't need to know about, but some I can share. Like how he tried to let me talk to his mother but since she barely speaks any English and I speak NO Arabic whatsoever it was just confusing and really funny. Or how I made dinner for him last night and he went absolutely nuts about it (and now can't figure out why I told him I can't cook.) Great weekend, yep yep. Now, the weird thing is, since he's Palestinian, I've become a lot more interested in politics and such involving the Middle East. Especially (no surprise) the goings on in Jerusalem (I mean, come on, that's where he grew up and his family is still there). Okay, maybe it's not that weird, but still... Wow, that last bit was COMPLETELY random.

I'm starting to amaze myself.
DATE: 29 Jan 2007, 11:21 am / MOOD: Other
August- 247 lbs. January- 204 lbs. Damn. 43 pounds of hallie gone. I'm starting to wonder what happened to be quite honest, but it's a happy change. But it's weird to me still. I look in the mirror, and I still see the 250 pound behemoth I was just a few short months ago. But, then again, I revel in the fact I can shop on both sides of the store now. In fact, I have a hard time making myself even look at the plus sized clothes anymore. This is the closest I've ever been to being "thin", and I guess it'll just take some getting used to.

Things I've learned since Friday (a quick rundown)
DATE: 16 Jan 2007, 10:55 am / MOOD: Other
1. When trying to walk up a steep hill carrying backpack, big ass pillow, and a hat, gravity and squishy mud are NOT your friends. 2. Don't add whiskey to a rum and coke, especially if said drink is already over halfway gone. The whiskey will make it taste like shit. 3. BLTs for breakfast rule.
